Street Hawkers
This is a great short film from the Covey site. The film take a look at the diverse perspectives required to maintain a healthy market for its citizens while enhancing the quality. The story talks about the shop owner a man who owns a store and has a street vendor who resides outside his shop for attraction and also doubles for security. This style of business is great for India because you create a way for the small business owners to survive within a modern market system. The idea is a good model we should consider in the United States to reduce the illegal sales that take place on the streets of NY and other big cities. The farmers markets are typically ran this way to encourage small business. We should have a sense of connectedness with our community and neighbors. Today’s business model creates an impersonal element of business leaving us disconnected to the resources available. This disconnection creates a way for us to become more non emotional about our consumer decision and results in The film also talked about how it creates a streamlining of their market allowing them to create an more efficient systems through this perspective. This business model actually creates additional business for the state by creating more supply and sales potentials with extra businesses being out there in operation. The choice was a good one for the solution to the vendor situation in India and how adapting to the conditions is much more wise then to enforce change. I enjoyed this film and recommend anyone check it out.

Extra Credit : Dion Jordan
This was Jeff's extra credit assignment and thought I would look into this guy and and was so impcted by him and doing a paper on him as well. Dion Jordan was a African American male born in America disabled at birth from a complication to his legs leaving him wheelchair bound for the ealier years of his life. The affect this tragedy had on him was frifound and allowed him to persevere and become a true optomist which contributes to his success even today. He is a motivational speaker and has been awrded some of the highest awards for public services and achievements. He has been sought be athletes, professors, professionals, religious leaders, coaches and numerous others. I went to his website and looked at several talks he offered at different universities and lecture halls around the country. He talks alot about perspectives and how this one single thing in our lives has such a huge and profound effects on our futures and desirability of the future. He talked about MLK Jr. and attended many conferences on leadership sharing his views and insight to the real secrets of success in this world. He speaks about those past leaders and their shared vision through exemplary leadership skills and how gaining respect and faith through others with the change of minds and hearts with his perspectives. Dion Jordan is also a professional life coach and offers his services to professionals of of walks. His life coaching began with the launch of his company Dion Jordan Enterprises in 1999 and now had helped thousand personally and millions through his speaking and public service. He is a truly inspirational man and I feel a bond with this man through his talks because i once was in a wheel chair for a period of time in my life and understand his drives and views from being debilitated to empowered and how this transformation can spur a truly amazing drive.
Classmates Reflection Post
Hello Bloggers
I just went through our class final project postings and saw some good ones but have to say my boy Jeff was impressive seeing hoow many people he volunteered for around the island good work Jeff! The idea in this class is to gain a personal understanding with leadership and the things required to become one through thinking to actually doing and Jeff has been doing. He participated in Relay for Life, UH Hilo Food Drive, along with coaching and evaluating some little league baseball players. HE also participated in community service around the Hilo and Keeau community and succeeded in contributing to the positive growth of Hilo and encouraging better community view for positive change. He even was helping those in need of research for cancer which i find truly inspirational and impressive from a humanitarian perspective. good job Jeff and nice work keep it up!

Reflection
Leadership Reflection
After a long semester of hard work and a ton or reading, I find myself reflecting back on the tools I have gained along the way. We first started reading “Hope in the Dark” and through this material I learned about possibility and vision. The book talked about religion, politics, humanity, philosophy, self concept and many others. Rebecca Solnit clearly lights a path of hope through 21 chapters and was truly inspiring to me to take in different perspectives on some issues I thought I had a clear stance like the Zapatista Revolution, Native American perspectives, WWII, Bush Family and many others much to long to list.
The other text “the Eighth Habit” is a good book also and has taken me into a 3rd party perspective to allow me to consider things from a different perspective. This text helped me to be optimistic and hopeful and to drive on positives. I was inspired and truly fascinated with the chapter on discovering your born talents and what this means. I also like the online network and intractability with other members on the network and also the video links as well. The video links were short but really good and actually watched them all In the beginning out of curiosity. Stephen Covey has true insight on leadership and will be a staple to refer along my road to becoming a great leader in our society. The book is definitely a vision to seek higher levels of human genius. Todays society calls for a change of mind set to allow way for a whole new understanding and perspective on what its takes to be great not just effective in our lives. Truly inspirational and would recommend it to anyone!
Overall this course has been a nice way to help me gain more focus to what its takes to become great and what tools are needed to get there. Laulima had been a good experience and overall not too hard to manage. The materials for the class were challenging and rewarding at the same time. I had a lot of fun in this class and feel it’s been one of my favorites so far, and hope to see more classes of empowerment available for off island students.
I chose to write about leadership and means of leadership through practicing ideals to promote integrity for my stance and drive. I chose to look at communications normative theory applied to green initiatives and promoting sustainability in our society today. I talk about the experience of going green from a regular Joe to off-the-grid and sustainable for an example to put out into my community. The paper is a insight to the trials and tribulations of going off-grid and how life adjustments have been made to accommodate my lifestyle without cramping my wallet or my sanity! I hope that my leadership stance and behaviors will positively influence our society and promote responsible living to my children and friends.

"An Invitation" Inspiration and Leadership
I recently watched a movie called An Invitation link: http://www.globalonenessproject.org/videos/aninvitation
and its was truly inspiring and sad. I feel truly sad about the fact that our planet is being ruined for our own consumption. We are truly more important then a shopping market or the things we could buy from the market. The film is about the disconection between modern people and indigenous people and the earth and its natural systems. We should all find our way back to being sustainable in an ecological way. Check out this clip if you haven't its truly a good film about people and prespectives as well as a good way to see life. I now want to make a difference even more to help humanity than before and feel truly inspired and you will too if ya check this one out!

Project Proposal Idea "Going Off The grid!"
I am choosing to do a paper for my final project. My idea is to write about my experience in taking a leadership initiative to be truly green and the experience of a typical person doing so and the hardships and changes that I experience daily to give insight to the actions required to truly set example through leadership to promoting and changing for our children and our future! The theme will be like the show produced by K. Spurlock called 30 days. The show is about a typical person making some life change and the experience of being a different person for a month or the experience of a hardship or limitation to show a inside look of what these life experiences are like. I live off the grid with solar and water catchment. I have lived my whole life on the grid and always saw electric bills a normal thing and being unconcious of my power consumption. I have awoken to a revelation of green perspective and practice and want to share my life changing experience through this paper and how its impacted my life profoundly and has been a wonderful experience so far!
