Leadership Reflection
After a long semester of hard work and a ton or reading, I find myself reflecting back on the tools I have gained along the way. We first started reading “Hope in the Dark” and through this material I learned about possibility and vision. The book talked about religion, politics, humanity, philosophy, self concept and many others. Rebecca Solnit clearly lights a path of hope through 21 chapters and was truly inspiring to me to take in different perspectives on some issues I thought I had a clear stance like the Zapatista Revolution, Native American perspectives, WWII, Bush Family and many others much to long to list.
The other text “the Eighth Habit” is a good book also and has taken me into a 3rd party perspective to allow me to consider things from a different perspective. This text helped me to be optimistic and hopeful and to drive on positives. I was inspired and truly fascinated with the chapter on discovering your born talents and what this means. I also like the online network and intractability with other members on the network and also the video links as well. The video links were short but really good and actually watched them all In the beginning out of curiosity. Stephen Covey has true insight on leadership and will be a staple to refer along my road to becoming a great leader in our society. The book is definitely a vision to seek higher levels of human genius. Todays society calls for a change of mind set to allow way for a whole new understanding and perspective on what its takes to be great not just effective in our lives. Truly inspirational and would recommend it to anyone!
Overall this course has been a nice way to help me gain more focus to what its takes to become great and what tools are needed to get there. Laulima had been a good experience and overall not too hard to manage. The materials for the class were challenging and rewarding at the same time. I had a lot of fun in this class and feel it’s been one of my favorites so far, and hope to see more classes of empowerment available for off island students.
I chose to write about leadership and means of leadership through practicing ideals to promote integrity for my stance and drive. I chose to look at communications normative theory applied to green initiatives and promoting sustainability in our society today. I talk about the experience of going green from a regular Joe to off-the-grid and sustainable for an example to put out into my community. The paper is a insight to the trials and tribulations of going off-grid and how life adjustments have been made to accommodate my lifestyle without cramping my wallet or my sanity! I hope that my leadership stance and behaviors will positively influence our society and promote responsible living to my children and friends.
Thanks for Reading aloha, Jon

Glad you enjoyed the readings and class. I don't recall approving the topic you discuss here for a final project. I thought you said you were doing something about human technology interaction???
